About our School

About our School

T. Sunandamma, a well-known freedom fighter, and Social worker, an ardent devotee of Sai Baba, a sincere follower of Mahathma Gandhiji, with the support of her husband Narasimha Iyenger and a few other like-minded persons founded the Trust in Mysore and got it registered in 1957. This Trust, named Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba Mahila & Makkala Koota Trust, began to function in a humble way, by starting a nursery school in the residence of Sunandamma, the then Sole Managing Trustee. There were only three children and one teacher. Sunandamma's ambition was to start a school for special children too (M.R & Physically Handicapped). This was only short lived and for want of several requirements, it was later completely abandoned. But the nursery school gradually grew, gained momentum and took the shape of a lower Primary School with four teachers.

The objectives of the Trust are high and noble, not confining to the field of education only.

The main objective is to provide quality education based on Indian Culture and Spirituality as well as human values both contained in the message of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, to the Children of educationally and economically very backward families of slums and villages in and around Mysore city.

As the students' number increased year by year, in 1962, the Mysore City Improvement Trust Board, recognizing and respecting the noble cause of this Trust generously allotted a spacious site in Ashram Road, Jayalakshmipuram, Mysore on a long lease.

The foundation stone for the construction of the School building was laid graciously by Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in response to the earnest prayer of Sunandamma and others, on September 15th 1963.

The School with its nursery section and I to IV standards, named as Sri Sathya Sai Baba Lower Primary School, got recognition from the Department of Public Instruction Karnataka State, in 1963.

By 1966 the school became a full-fledged Higher Primary School.

The first batch of 7th Standard children (boys and girls) wrote the 7 standard District Public Examination and got 100% pass results.

Heeding the earnest prayer and tearful entreaties of Sunandamma, Swami out of His boundless compassion, accepted at long last, the School and the Trust, offered at His Lotus feet with humility and devotion.

Since then Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba has been the Sole Trustee and President of this Trust. Entrusting the management to Sri Sathya Sai Trust, Karnataka and locally to the Bhagavan Sri Satya Sai Baba Mahila and Makkala Koota Trust, at Mysore.

The Trust and the School have completed 62 years of Educational Service, spreading the message of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, containing the essence of Universal love, Sarvadharma Samanvaya (Harmony of all Religions) and Education in Human Values ( now shaped into Educare) - among children so that they learn these noble values right from their tender age.

The school has been giving attention to the good conduct and character of children both in and outside the classroom. Children's performance in sports and other extracurricular activities, with due training given by teachers has been very good and has won many prizes and trophies. Their academic achievement also has been very good and the School has earned the best School of the District Award in the year 2000 - 2001.

All this is by the Grace and Guidance, Love and Blessings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. In 2014, we started English Medium classes up to SSLC in State Syllabus.

Students are faring very well both in academic and co-curricular activities. The very first batch got 100% pass results in SSLC Public Examination in 2018-19.
